Winter is just around the corner and it's time to prep your lawn for cold temperatures, snow, and ice! You might look forward to a nice deep snow fall, but your grass does not. If you cut your grass incorrectly you could set your lawn up for snow mold and allowing little critters to stay in the lawn for warmth. Here's 6 tips to prep your lawn for Winter to have a beautiful green lawn in the Spring!
Mow your grass to 2.5 inches
Aerate. Spring and Fall are the most beneficial times
Fertilize. If you are going to fertilize your lawn just once a year, do it in the fall.
Clear the leaves.
Fill in bald patches by over-seeding.
Treat weeds.
Slowly cutting your grass shorter will allow your lawn to winter well without the shock of being cut all at once.
The proper cutting technique requires that you do not take off more than one-third of the grass blade during a single mowing.
