At Tee Bar Sod Farms we guarantee you'll have the most perfect lawn on the block! We take pride in producing the highest quality sod in the Edmonton area. Here's how you can ensure your grass remains healthy and green!

  1. Prepare soil - Remove rocks and weeds, and break up any clumps of dirt. Work up soil to a depth of 2 to 6 inches. Consider adding additional soil or loam and mix it with the existing soil to create a reasonable depth. If the existing soil is considerably dense, add sand or peat to improve drainage.

  2. Grade - Level all surfaces where you'll lay sod. The soil surface should be 1 inch below walks, patios and driveways to accommodate the thickness of the sod.

  3. Fertilize - Our grass is already fertilized but you can spread a thin even layer of fertilizer on the soil before laying the sod.

  4. Lay sod - Lay the first roll along a straight line and on the second strip, stagger joints like laying bricks. Take care not to overlap the ends, but the ends tightly together. Use a knife to cut the sod to fit curves and edges, and accommodate sprinkler heads.

  5. Lightly Water - The sooner you begin to water the better! If installing in a large area, lightly water in sections as you continue to sod the area, this prevents the grass roots from drying. If the sod needs to remain on the pallet until it can be laid, lightly spray the rolls to keep them moist.

  6. Roll - After laying all of the sod, lightly rolling can eliminate any irregularities and adhere the soil and the sod. Excessive initial watering my cause roller marks.

  7. Water - Thoroughly water the completed surface, enough that the soil beneath the sod becomes moistened as well, approximately 6 to 8 inches. Repeat watering necessary to avoid drying.
